Supervised plant production with greenhouse and outdoor production.  Managed vegetative liner production in propagation greenhouse.  Developed crop schedules and ordered necessary supplies.  Maintained weekly plant inventory on computer.  Applied all chemicals as needed.  Monitored plant nutrition and fertilization. Planned and organized employee work load and schedules.   
 

2008 – 2009 - Harts Plant Nursery, Inc., Jacksonville, FL - Production Manager:

Interviewed and hired employees.   Trained and evaluated employees work production.  Planned and coordinated employee work schedules. Analyzed production methods, problems and initiated solutions. Supervised plant production at two locations including outdoor and greenhouse production. Interviewed, hired and trained greenhouse employees.  Managed production in new propagation greenhouse. Consulted with owner and sales team on crop scheduling.  Initiated plan to collect cost of production information.  Developed vegetative liner program. Designed and organized plant inventory on computer. Acquired new knowledge on perennial production.  Supervised assemblage and maintenance of container gardens. 
 

2001 - 2002 - Hardins Wholesale Florist Supply, Inc., Liberty, NC - General Manager, Growing Division:  Collaborated with accountant on cost of production study and collected data for time studies.  Planned all aspects of greenhouse functions including:  crop, employee and maintenance schedules and procurement of all associated supplies.   
 

1985 - 2001 - Hardins Wholesale Florist Supply, Inc., Liberty, NC - Greenhouse Grower:  Produced a variety of crops on a wholesale basis.  Managed propagation greenhouses, organized crop rotation and monitored plant nutrition.  Applied growth regulators and fungicides when appropriate, diagnosed and treated insect infestations. Managed work crews of 8-11 people, often in Spanish and prepared weekly production report for payroll processing.  Directed crews during plant selection and loading processes for each specific vendor order.  Licensed to use restricted pesticides. 
 

1999 - 2000 - The Lawn Detective, Greensboro, NC - Greenhouse Consultant - part time:  Consultant and grower raising a variety of greenhouse crops. 
 

1979 - 1985 - DeSantis Florist, Inc., Columbus, OH - Grower, Supervisor, Greenhouse Manager:  Began as a grower assisting the greenhouse manager in crop production, greenhouse maintenance and retail sales.  Promoted to greenhouse manager in 1981. 
 

1978 - 1979 - Ash Hanson Greenhouses and Flower Shop, Marietta, OH - Assistant Greenhouse Grower:  Assisted owner in crop production.   Responsible for watering, planting and harvesting flowers.
